About the SEQ Councils NRS Partnership
The SEQ Councils National Reserve System Partnership was established in 2008 with funding from the Australian Government's Caring for our Country.
The partnership recognises the high biodiversity values of the SEQ bioregion* and its sub-bioregions, and the need for long term protection of these values from the increasing pressures faced by the region.
The partnership also aims to conserve other values that are important to the SEQ community including nature-based recreation opportunities, ecosystem services (including clean air and water), and cultural and scenic amenity values.
The partnership is a collaborative approach to building the National Reserve System in SEQ and works towards the regional protection and management of important conservation areas, involving all three levels of government.
